South Carolina is the place to be….
August 28, 2009 on 4:33 pm | In Uncategorized | 2 CommentsSouth Carolina is the place to be when you are on vacation, visiting family, looking for a very laid back time and hoping to forget you have a desk full of “stuff” back in Baltimore just waiting to reclaim your mind and soul when you return…. but believe me, while in South Carolina, the office was very, very far from my daily thought process.
More to follow, but for now:
Who wants the ball?

Charlie hits the water…

Then Zelda makes a huge splash
We both do! Charlie got the Cuz, Zellie the ball….

and me too!

The happy boy

Summer in Baltimore
August 13, 2009 on 8:33 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsThis year has been unbelievably cooler than most summers… rain has been heavy some months and moderate other months, but no month has been totally dry… and with minor blips, the temperatures have been in the 80’s, with some humidity. For the most part, an exceptionally nice summer with good, green grass for tracking, even in late August. I know global warming is an issue, but this summer you would not prove it in the mid-atlantic region!
Charlie Brown and his momma, Zellie-belle have had a few guests over the summer with Djago (our ~10 year old SchH III GSD friend) visiting often for a few days to a week each visit. Charlie and Djago do not interact with each other without a glass door between them or a fence full of ivy… they wag their tails and sniff, but I don’t allow them real face time. Rocky (our ~10 year old SchH III Rottie friend) has been by a few times for weekend to week long visits and like Djago, Charlie and Rocky don’t get real face time either… but Little Lizzy (our 12 plus year old Scottie friend) gets to sleep in bed with me, Zelda and Charlie Brown. When she visits, she rules the roost. And our good friend Lily (3 yr old GSD) and Charlie are good friends and when Lily came to visit for a week they shared toys, walks and belly rubs. Morgan (our 5 or so year old Corgi friend) will come for her first visit this weekend. Charlie, Zelda and Morgan have been friends since Morgan and Charlie were pups, but they don’t see each other often. Charlie and Zelda did go to Morgan’s beach home in Lewes last month and they enjoyed romping on the beach and lounging in the house together, so I’m guessing Morgan will be very happy visiting this weekend.
For me, summer in Baltimore is all about the dawgs… anyone surprised?
Charlie Brown has a tenative breeding planned for Spring 2010
August 10, 2009 on 3:35 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsCh. Viking’s Charlie Brown, CD, ROM, SchH I, ZTP1A, TT, CGC, ”Charlie Brown” , went to Rosaryville to strut his stuff and show off for Karl and Donna Getsinger, the “parents” of Ch. Dancing Star’s Born to Fly, ROM, AX, AXJ, NF, ”Lindy”… Lindy is looking for a beau and the criteria for just the right guy is quite staggering! Mom and Dad Getsinger want a beau who is an AKC Champion and they want him to have performance titles. They want him to be health tested and they want him to be a ROM. They do not want him to carry dilution and they want a dog whose body type will compliment Lindy’s. And they want a dog whose temperment and drive will help Lindy produce puppies who have the drive to work, yet are the companion dog we all crave for our home… No small feat to find it all and as luck would have it, they were told to check out Mr. Brown….
We met on Saturday at Rosaryville and they got to see Charlie do a little obedience; they got to see him run a blind and do a bark and hold, respond to a call out of the blind; to see an escape bite and a send out for a bite (not a real long bite, but a short one as it was very, very hot)…They got to see him play with a ball, chase his Momma Zelda and in general be a boy, with tongue hanging out and grass to roll in…
The puppies will all be black and we given their parents drives and accomplishments, we believe they will come with drive to do agility or any performance sport thrown their way and hopefully they will be competitive in the breed ring.
The breeding will be in April depending on when Lindy goes into heat this Fall and puppies should be ready for their new homes in June-ish–give or take.
Ch. Dancing Star’s Born to Fly, ROM, AX, AXJ, NF is out of Ch. Dabney’s Phenonanon NR, ANJ x Ch. Dancing Star’s Latin Sonata, CGC, TDI, TT
Ch. Viking’s Charlie Brown, CD, ROM, SchH I, ZTP1A, TT, CGC is out of Ch. Wingate’s Complusion, NR x Ch. Nova’s Zelda V Kelview, CDX, ROM, TT, BH, TDi, CGC
Both Charlie (27 1/2 inches) and Lindy (25 3/4 inches) are standard size; fully health tested; full and proper dentition; great substance and bone and best of all, lots of drive to work, play and love!

August 7, 2009 on 7:32 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsToday a very good friend of mine lost her 12 plus year old princess…. it is never easy. Yet, when we are lucky our “kids” give us the gift of loving–loving them as they love us. Each hole that is left when they leave us, is gradually filled with the wonderful memories, the laugh out loud laughter, whether it is the the paw in the face while you are trying to sleep or the memory of them meeting you at the door with your bra in their mouth… perhaps it is when they sit in front of you, staring directly into your eyes, trying to understand what you are telling them, the cock of the head to the left, then to the right, the ears twitching, telling you yes, yes I do understand. And the laughter turns to love and your heart melts and you know you have that special dog sharing your life, your bed and leaving you fulfilled and happy. And when the stars align and the time is right, a new love is sent to you from all the ones that went before and new memories are created, some that mimic those you had before and make you teary eyed and some that are brand new, leaving you to wonder how yet another special dog, a new soulmate has found its way into your life and heart.
Sleep softly Arielle. You left your Mom in good paws with Desiree.
